Apologies; I didn't see this until ...Hi Leslie! Apologies; I didn't see this until this evening. I agree that the guitar part definitely adds quite a bit to the track. I think it was Robbie Blunt, if memory serves. I'm a huge Mark Knopfler fan, so that's certainly one of the reasons I like "Far Post" so much.

I like Plant's solo albums quite a bit; I admire his determination to keep truying new things. That said, I hear you about the production on some of those Eighties albums. It's so distracting on Now & Zen in particular, and Skaen & Stirred to a lesser extent, that I hardly ever listen to those two (other than "Little By Little," which I love).

The running is going fairly well, although my allergies are making it a challenge and definitely slowing me down (literally and figuratively). We're supposed to have rain tomorrw afternoon and evening, so hopefully that will help clear the air of the pollen.

BTW, it's never too late to start running again! :c) I found the Couch To 5K (C25K) app to be invaluable. It takes you from not having run at all to running 5K (3.1 miles) in nine weeks. It works; I did it several years ago and was close to 10K before I messed up my knee and had to stop, followed by the pandemic shutting me down. (About the only good thing from the pandemic, though, is that my knee finally healed on its own becuase of the enforced rest). Anyway, just wanted to throw that out there for you!

Hugs,
CassCassidyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10765803435751308973noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3348070062651753968.post-44923508877829520282021-05-06T02:31:20.609-04:002021-05-06T02:31:20.609-04:00"Far Post" was played a lot here in Lexi..."Far Post" was played a lot here in Lexington too. I remember it well. I like the Knofler style guitar licks especially.

Plant's solo work never grabbed me like the Zeppelin stuff. It really demonstrates that Page's tastes ruled the day. Much like Mick Jones's work post-Clash, there is a real departure into territory that would never work in the group dynamic.

My fave Plant song comes much later: "Twenty-nine Palms". More timeless than the initial solo work, which is so steeped in 80's production.

Good luck with the running, wish I had the gumption to
do it myself. It's been seven or eight years now, and I don't see it returning.Leslie Annhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15373261212549008939noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3348070062651753968.post-7583691155310992142021-04-26T17:33:31.787-04:002021-04-26T17:33:31.787-04:00Sorry - the formatting went awry in my first attem...Sorry - the formatting went awry in my first attempt at this response!

Thank you, Miss D! And wow... the second shot isn't until *September*?!?!? Yikes. Ontario & a few other provinces sure seem to fumbled the ball big time with this.

I just read that the Biden Administration is going to be sending up to 60 million doses to other countries; hopefully Canada is one of them. Lord knows there are huge swaths of the US where the vaccination rate is barely 10% (three guesses which political party dominates these regions). Obviously you want enough available for the people in these areas who *do* give a damn about other people, but why should sickeningly high numbers of vaccines go to waste every day because of these people?

Sigh. At any rate, I'm glad you & the missus are getting your 1st. Any idea which one? Just curious. You'll both do great no matter which one you get. Other than some lingering minor fatigue, mine went off without a hitch. Hope yours does as well.

Hugs,
CassCassidyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10765803435751308973noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3348070062651753968.post-53655036789613243722021-04-26T07:38:46.579-04:002021-04-26T07:38:46.579-04:00Congratulations, and well done! However, some in high places are suggesting that vaccines are going to be re-directed to hot spots, so nothing is certain. So great to hear from you too, Miss L!

It's funny - and aggravating - now that I look back, but I really *did* have versions near completion several times. Writing was never the issue for me; perfectionism was. (And depression at times, to be completely honest.) Bruce Springsteen once called himself "a thinkin' fool," and I can relate. :D

That being said, it *is* different thsi time, but I can see now that I had to write those earlier attempts to get here. The key for me is to just show up. To sit down and start, and to not censor myself. That's what I'm doing, and that's what's different this time. And I hope you'll do the same, Leslie! I miss seeing your name in my feed. Get writing, girl!!!

Take care, Leslie! Hope to see you on T-Central soon!

Love,
Cass

P.S. Daniel Lanois is absolutely amazing. I still play both Acadie and For The Beauty of Wynona pretty regularly. I saw him on the Wynona tour at Nightstage in Cambridge, and to this day I would rate it as the best show I've even attended. He was transcendent. And yes, "The Maker" is pretty remarkable. (It doesn't hurt to be able to call in Aaron Neville as a ringer, of course... ;D)Cassidyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10765803435751308973noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3348070062651753968.post-80740565587083339992021-02-24T02:45:51.902-05:002021-02-24T02:45:51.902-05:00Great to have you writing again, Cass. In the past...Great to have you writing again, Cass. In the past few years, you always mentioned how you had posts almost ready to go, then disappeared for six months. You were only fooling yourself, the same way I have. I no longer promise more, just hope the mood strikes. Your tone now is different. I believe you this time, and I'm eager to read what is coming.

Acadie was a big record for me, too. I still pull up "The Maker" regularly. I have no God, but the song gives me an idea of how it might feel to have faith, to be sheltered in the arms of the Maker. Goose bumps every time.

Love ya!
LeslieLeslie Annhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15373261212549008939noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3348070062651753968.post-76842253574785844232021-02-14T21:54:16.772-05:002021-02-14T21:54:16.772-05:00I agree 100%. I spent most of my life shut down emotionally so I could survive.

Learning to let those emotions happen, even now, is going to take a long time. But it has to be done. I'm through being stuck in the rut where I've been the past three-plus years. And to get past it, this has to happen. So it will.

Also, thank you again for the heads-up on the duplicate video link this morning. I would hate to have deprived anyone of that version of "Corine." :c) (Memo to self: remember to double- and triple-check your posts when you finish them at 3:00 AM. ;D)

Hugs,
CassCassidyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10765803435751308973noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3348070062651753968.post-33799001752515395072021-02-14T06:58:39.289-05:002021-02-14T06:58:39.289-05:00I recall being puzzled and a lot disappointed that...I recall being puzzled and a lot disappointed that the therapist I hired to help me with my gender dysphoria seemed to be spending so much time getting me to examine my childhood trauma, and almost no time on the 'subject at hand, as I saw it. I have said thank you to the good doctor over and over, both in my mind and aloud, in the years since.
Don't expect the process to be over - ever. If you are anything like me, that rabbit hole is a deep one. Like a surreal onion that you peel back, and there is always another layer.
Big Hugs <3
DDeannahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08887649330596022559noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3348070062651753968.post-86818019466289930332021-01-31T19:34:31.171-05:002021-01-31T19:34:31.171-05:00@Deanna: "Therapy without the pressure"....@Deanna: "Therapy without the pressure"... I never thought of it that way! :c) It *definitely* helps me process things I wouldn't be able to otherwise, or at least not as quickly. So often I've found that just starting is the key. Once I do, for whatever reason, things start to move. Here's hoping that continues!

And yes, lots of great Blue Rodeo memories - hopefully with more to come sooner rather than later! (BTW, Greg is supposed to have an album out sometime in the next month or two, I believe.) :c) xoxoxo

@Calie: I was a bit shocked when I looked at my blog and saw how little I've published the last 3-4 years. That needs to change, and it will.

This blog was crucial in helping me with my transition, and with other matters I needed to work on (even if I didn't really know that until I started writing). And as I mention in the post, my instincts tell me I'm at a similar crossroads to the one described in the post, and have been there even before the pandemic. Hopefully future posts will help me with why that is, and what to do to move forward.

Of course, there's a difference this time: I'll be doing this as myself. And that makes *all* the difference. Even when I'm having a difficult time, I can look in the mirror and remember how far I've come from the beginnng of my transition to now. I did that, even in the face of some major obstacles; I can do anything. And hopefully in the coming months this blog will help me figure out what that is, and how to do it. Can't wait to share it with you and everyone else. :c)

Mary Chapin Carpenter is amazing. Her most recent album might be her best, which is remarkable, given her catalog. She did a solo streaming show from Wolf Trap a few weeks before Christmas; watching her play one great song after another for two-plus hours (and mostly staying away from the hits) was inspiring. MCC rocks. :c)

Hope all is well with you, Calie. I would love for us to connect again; it's been far too long. Let's make it happen!!! :c) Meanwhile, take care, and stay safe! xoxoxoCassidyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10765803435751308973noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3348070062651753968.post-42522248437168566102021-01-31T14:33:40.379-05:002021-01-31T14:33:40.379-05:00So nice to see you write a blog post Cass (yeah, I...So nice to see you write a blog post Cass (yeah, I know, glass houses).

Seeing those dark thoughts, from your past, while listening to Mary Chapin Carpenter, reminded me so much of some of my own dark times.

It's been a horrible year, eh? I'm guessing you haven't been in the office much at all so you, like so many, have been missing out on the social interaction. In addition, it's winter in Boston, which I know so well, and that can get you down. I'm hoping that Covid19 becomes a thing of the past within a few months and that, along with the wonder warming months of spring in Boston, will make things better.

Calie xxxCaliehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00280127011882954777noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3348070062651753968.post-5635598467408098332021-01-31T10:25:52.720-05:002021-01-31T10:25:52.720-05:00Listening to Greg and the band brings back lovely ...Listening to Greg and the band brings back lovely memories.
Yes, write, dear Cass ... that process is therapy without the pressure. Reading our thoughts back and reorganizing them to publish is advanced mindfulness - keeping us in the moment while we write - allowing us to precess the feelings more completely. The freedom to share or not is akin to being able to let go.
That, along with good chats with those who hold you in a very special place can make such a difference.

Looking forward to the next instalment.
