Captain Oblivious: (Still) Reporting for Duty!

Sunday, March 31, 2013

So... I spent the weekend visiting with my dear friends T, J, and F, as we'd decided we were long overdue for a get-together. We decided to get together at T & J's home, about an hour from where I live.

On the drive out, I was trying to figure out how long it had been since I'd seen them all.

In F's case, it was early October, much to my surprise.

In T and J's case, I realized it was three months to the day; we last saw each other on New Year's Eve, at the My Morning Jacket show.

When I arrived, J gave me a modified version of her usual bone-crushing hug, to prevent squishing my "baby boobies" (which are mighty tender these days). :c)

(As J also noted, "I'm afraid I'll break you in half if I squeeze too hard, hon!")

Here's how the conversation unfolded (and bear in mind that I attended the show in boy mode, which, as you will see, is a key factor):

Got home just a short while ago from electrolysis. While I attempt to reduce the swelling up around my eyes (hoo boy, do the little whiskers in that area put up a fight!), I thought I would share a light moment from the session.

So, It's Come To This Already... :c)

So... I come home from my post-workout cool-down at Starbucks, where I've rewarded myself with my favorite toffee nut iced coffee.

(While there, I somehow wound up serving as the middle girl in an animated text message exchange between my manager L and April. The end result is that L announced the following:

a) My parents need to adopt both her and April. (She's tasted my mother's brownies; 'nuff said.)

b) She is going to join April and I on our girls-only road trip. Well, one of them, anyway; we're up to about ten destinations so far!

We were a bit reluctant to add anyone, even someone as cool as L - until she mentioned her Dad's vintage '65 Mustang.

His fire engine red Mustang.

Which is a convertible.

And which comes with a working 8-track player.

L and I are hoping that the smelling salts finally awaken April from her bliss-induced reverie upon hearing all of this at some point in the next 24 hours.)

But I digress.

Again. :c)

So, another super-busy week is in the books.

Follow me for details of seven days that started off less than perfectly and ended up with me having yet another goofy smile on my face for what felt like hours. :c)

Silly Grin :c)

Tuesday, March 19, 2013

Greetings and salutations, one and all!

I have *so* much to write about - some really exciting things too! - but not enough time at the moment. That said, I wanted to share a moment from Monday morning that, as the title says, left me with a goofier than usual grin afterwards. If such a thing is possible!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

That even goes for you lads and lasses not fortunate enough to be Irish by birth!

Below the fold, a mini-jukebox, Celtic style.

That Was Then, This Is Now

Saturday, March 16, 2013

Before I dive in to the main topic on the agenda, I wanted to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone for the lovely comments and private messages related to my last two posts. The generosity of spirit is overwhelming. :c)

I promise I will respond over the weekend. And Kelli, Stace, Becca, Leslie, and Col, replies to your private messages will follow too!  Love you all to pieces!

That even goes for you, April, in spite of causing me to make a spectacle of myself at work today with your dancing hot dogs remark! (It's a long story, girls. Believe me.) I started laughing so hard I had to go outside, earning some strange looks on the way. (All right, stranger than usual.)

I'm not saying I will seek revenge… but I would keep an eye out for koala reconnaissance units during your daily constitutionals if I were you. Yup, I'm going there, sis - the nuclear option, Aussie marsupial style. Make fun of my jazz fusion fandom at your peril, Missie!

Conversations With C: He Knows :c)

Friday, March 15, 2013

Tonight was another big night.

I came out to my nephew C.

Yup, my world famous nephew C.

How did it go?

That Voice Again

Thursday, March 14, 2013

Just a brief post as I unwind from a long day, concerning encouraging observations about my progress from two different people.

Steppin' Out, Pt. I

Sunday, March 10, 2013

So, I have a confession to make.

I've been holding out on all of you.

No, I don't know who's going to win the World Series.

Although I do know my Mariners won't be winning it.

Again.

Sigh.

Anyway, I've been holding out on some big steps (well, big steps to me) I took recently.

Well, OK, not recently.

Back in January.

All right, early January.

Oh, stop looking at me like that! It wasn't that long ago!

I had the flu, got flattened by a van, and had a panic attack in the interim! It isn't as if I was eating honey BBQ chips and drinking creme soda every day!

No. Definitely not every day. ;c)

So, what did I do, you ask?

I had a makeover.

My first.

And I went clothes shopping with my friend and co-worker (and self-appointed wardrobe consultant) S. :c)

Follow me below the fold for the first part of the tale!

Tidbits, Pt. III

One last item, to close out this little series with a grace note.

Tidbits, Pt. II

As promised, the exciting sequel to Tidbits I!

Tidbits, Pt. I

Friday, March 8, 2013

Just thought I'd write about some  fun/nice tidbits from the past few days while I work on three (yes, three) other posts. I am a glutton for punishment. :c)

Anyway, here's the first, about my most recent electrolysis session on Tuesday evening. :c)

Be Not So Fearful

Saturday, March 2, 2013

A friend told me that transitioning would simultaneously be both the hardest thing *and* the best thing I have ever done.

That has proven to be true. I have no regrets whatsoever (other than waiting so long), in spite of the tumult of the past year.

Even with that in mind, some weeks are more trying than others.

Last week was one of those weeks.

It was a combination of things, not all of which were transition-related.

But the end result was one of the more frightening experiences of my life.

And an epiphany.
